Adult Grief Support Groups

TRU offers grief support groups to meet the unique ways that people grieve. Each group is open to the community, registration is required prior to first attendance for all groups. Early registration is recommended as these groups fill quickly.

Although most of our groups are free of charge, we welcome donations to help keep them sustainable and available to all who are grieving.

Available Groups for Adults:

4-Week Newly Bereaved Support Program – Meets in Person

Support, information, and networking for people who have experienced a recent death loss. The program is recommended for people who are 1-6 months out from the loss. This four-week program is led by trained facilitators and has a one-time program fee of $20. This group meets on Thursday evenings from 6-8 pm and typically begins the first week of each month.

There are weekly topics listed below and related handouts that guide group discussion.

8-Week Hope and Healing Support Program – Meets in Person

Support, information, and networking for people who have experienced a death loss. This eight-week program is recommended for people who are at least 6 months or further from the loss; it is led by trained facilitators and has a one-time program fee of $40. The group meets on Monday evenings from 6-8 pm, and sessions run for eight consecutive weeks. There are weekly topics listed below and related handouts that guide group discussion.

Equine Grief Workshop for Adults – Currently Enrolling for Summer 2026

A unique offering for those who have experienced the death of a loved one. Allow yourself this gift to get outdoors and interact with horses who can support you on your grief journey. Horses are non-judgmental beings who model and invite humans to become present and honest with our feelings, emotions, and thoughts. They are excellent communicators and listeners who respond to what they receive from us, making them great mirrors for our learning, growth, and healing. *No prior horse experience is needed, we will engage with the horses safely on the ground.
Workshops are offered in partnership with Heartlight Center at a private ranch in Lyons. Choose the date that works best for you; cost is $100 per participant:
  • Saturday June 6, 2026-10am to 4pm
  • Saturday July 11, 2026- 10am to 4pm
  • Saturday August 22, 2026- 10am to 4pm
  • Saturday, September 27, 2026 – 10 am to 4 pm
These one-day workshops fill up quickly, so we invite you to register soon. Ranch location and details will be provided after your registration form has been submitted.
 

Bereaved Parents Support Group (drop-in group) – Meets Hybrid

Provides a space for bereaved parents to gain support. Held on the third Wednesday of every month from 6:30-8:30 pm. Choose to attend in person or virtually.

First Year Spouse/Partner Grief Support Group (drop-in group) – Meets via Zoom

For spouses or partners whose loved one’s death has occurred within the past 12 months, held the 2nd Tuesday of every month from 6-8 pm.

Mindfulness Meditation Grief Support Group (drop-in) – Meets in Person

This ongoing drop-in group meets on the first Wednesday of each month from 5 to 6 pm. Once registered, please join us as your schedule allows.

Learn to meet life’s challenges with greater equanimity, find moments of calm in the chaos, and discover the profound difference that present-moment awareness can make in your daily life. These 60-minute sessions include meditation instruction, guided practice, and discussion. No prior experience necessary.

Memory-Making Grief Workshop – Healing through the creation of beaded mementos

Sponsored by a generous donation in remembrance of Lori Monthei.
This ongoing drop-in group meets on the second Tuesday of each month from 6-8 pm. Once registered, please join us as your schedule allows.

Join us in a welcoming, creative space to honor and remember loved ones through the art of bead work and memorial keepsakes. This grief support workshop invites you to share memories, express emotions, and create meaningful keepsakes using beads and charms that reflect your unique connection. (Suggested Donation: $20)

Sound Healing Grief Support Group – Meets in Person

Take a moment to pause and recharge in a peaceful, supportive setting. Immerse yourself in the healing power of sound as a variety of instruments create calming vibrations that encourage relaxation, emotional release, and inner renewal. This tranquil experience is designed support you in your grief journey and leave you feeling refreshed and balanced. Once you are registered join as you can. A waiver will be required. (Program fee of $20)

Spouse/Partner Loss Grief Support Group (drop-in group) – Meets Hybrid

For anyone who has experienced the death of a spouse or partner, held the third Tuesday of every month from 6-8 pm.

Sudden Loss Grief Support Group (drop-in group) – Meets via Zoom

The sudden, unexpected loss of someone we love is shocking and difficult to comprehend, often for a very long time. This ongoing drop-in group meets virtually once a month on the 4th Monday from 6-7:30 pm. Once registered, please join us as your schedule allows. The group offers a safe, supportive space in which to navigate the specific challenges and conflicting emotions that accompany sudden loss.

Widowed Senior Grief Support Group (drop-in group) – Meets in person unless there is inclement weather.

For senior men and women who have experienced the death of a spouse or partner, held the 4th Wednesday of every month from 10 am – 12 pm.

Once a registration form has been submitted, you will receive an email with group details and meeting location.

Step by Step Hiking Group (drop-in group) – Will resume April 16, 2026

This group offers support, exercise and a safe place for quiet reflection for anyone who has suffered a death loss. Hiking groups will resume Spring 2026 and meet weekly on Thursdays at 9 am, alternating locations between Boulder and Longmont. (Suggested Donation: $20)
